Ayatollah Arafi: No Retreat in the Civilizational Battle with America

The director of Iran's Islamic seminaries has categorically rejected any illusion of halting or retreating from the civilizational confrontation with the United States, declaring that the very survival and continuity of the Islamic Revolution within this great struggle constitutes a monumental victory in itself.

Hawzah News Agency- Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, speaking at a meeting of the Council of Deputies of the Seminary Management Center, stressed the urgent need to articulate the culture of steadfastness and civilizational confrontation with America. He stated: "Entry into this great arena and the continuation of our existence within it is, in itself, a tremendous victory. There is no possibility of stopping or turning back."

Ayatollah Arafi outlined this victory in two dimensions:

First, "entering this great arena and the central battle against the world's satanic power, which is America, is itself a great victory."

Second, "after entering this war, we have endured. We have continued our existence, our life, and our very being."

The director of Iran's seminaries stressed that these two dimensions of victory transcend any material or battlefield achievement.

He acknowledged that this string of victories comes with hardship and suffering, stating: "Embracing them demands immense struggle and self-sacrifice. Our nation and our elders have all stood firmly in honoring this reality."

The Seminaries at the Vanguard of the Struggle

Ayatollah Arafi firmly rejected any notion of a pause or retreat in the civilizational battle with America, declaring: "We must continue on this path. Midway through, there is absolutely no possibility of turning back. Whoever imagines stopping or retreating—it is simply not possible."

Mapping out the role of the Islamic seminaries, he asserted: "The management and all departments must stand as the living symbol of enlightenment, foresight, resistance, the culture of steadfastness, and the dignity, honor, and nobility of Islam, Iran, the Revolution, the clergy, and the seminaries. We must be the vanguard, the trailblazers, and the symbol of this firmness and resistance on the path of monotheism. All those on the scene must constantly stoke the fire for the continuation of this struggle, so that others may also feel this spirit. This is the line ahead of us."

Muharram and Safar Must Bring the Spirit of Jihad and Propagation to a Crescendo

With the mourning season of Muharram and Safar approaching, Ayatollah Arafi underscored the necessity of seizing this opportunity: "This year we face special circumstances, and from today onward, all programs must be calibrated toward Muharram and Safar."

The member of the Guardian Council's clerical body reminded his audience: "The capacity of Muharram and Safar, and the memory of Ashura, must be harnessed in the best possible way for the continuation of the struggle and the path we have embarked upon. The spirit of jihad, hope, and fervor must reach its peak during these days, and through various measures, the ground must be laid for the youth, society, and families to remain steadfast on this path."

The Spirit of Presence on the Stage Must Be Sustained

Ayatollah Arafi insisted: "The spirit of being present on the stage and in the arena must be sustained. These are the fundamental lines on which everyone must stand decisively and continue, and the Islamic propagation spirit must reach its zenith during Muharram and Safar."

Strategic Directives to Seminaries Nationwide

The director of the seminaries also issued a directive to seminary centers and schools across the country, outlining strategic points and recommendations. The text reads as follows:

"While endorsing the attached resolutions and approaches, I remind you that we and you stand in the midst of the colossal struggle between truth and falsehood—the great, decisive war for the fate of Islam, Iran, the Islamic Revolution, the Axis of Resistance, and the Islamic Ummah. Weakness and passivity will not be accepted from anyone, least of all from us, the people of the seminaries. We will be held accountable before God Almighty for any negligence or shortcoming."

"The incomparable opportunity of Muharram and Safar, the days of the Ashura and Husseini uprising, lies before us. The banners of Ashura are raised high, and the mourning gatherings and pulpits of Imam Hussain (PBUH) await the great multitude of scholars, teachers, seminarians, missionaries, and propagation groups. Opportunities must not be squandered, and no excuses should be manufactured to diminish presence and propagation."

"The continuation of the popular awakening and the divine fervor of the nation, along with the elevation of faith-based and revolutionary awareness among our young generation in Iran and the region, requires a resurrection and mobilization of the seminarians. We must charge forward in this arena with a spirit of struggle."

"Seminary centers and institutions, both in Qom and in all hubs where scholars gather, must embark on a propagation migration. Building on three months of field engagement by the clergy alongside the people, they must now rise for Muharram and Safar. Under the guidance of cultural and propagation bodies and the Balagh-e Mobin Headquarters, the movement of presence and propagation must continue and escalate across Iran. A general mobilization and a propagation uprising are also essential for overseas missions and the Arbaeen pilgrimage."
